WRAL-TV staffers celebrate 9 Midsouth Regional Emmy Awards on Saturday, February 25, 2023. The group gathered at the Full Frame Theater on the American Tobacco Campus in Durham to watch the event together.

On Saturday, February 25, 2023, WRAL’s talent, dedication and commitment to journalism was recognized and awarded at the 37th Midsouth Regional Emmy Awards.  The station garnered a total of 9 Emmy wins and the entire team took home the grand prize – an Emmy for News Excellence!

“I couldn’t be prouder of the staff here,” said WRAL-TV News Director Rick Gall.  “The News Excellence award reflects the work of our passionate, driven, and talented journalists who are wholly committed to serving the people and communities we cover.”

The Midsouth Region hosted the event virtually this year, and with WRAL up for a significant number of nominations, Capitol Broadcasting provided the Full Frame Theater at the American Tobacco Campus for staffers to gather to cheer on their colleagues under one roof.

“We are truly a family here – and to have our accomplishments…on some of our toughest days recognized makes us all just a little more thankful,” said WRAL-TV Executive Producer – Nightside Courtney Gartman.
