WRAL-TV came home with a news truck full of awards from the The Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas (RTDNAC) annual awards luncheon last weekend. The station won 15 first place plaques, plus one for WRAL-TV News+ Anchor Grace Holland who won for a WFMY story, and 4 second place certificates.
“I’m especially pleased and proud to share that we won Outstanding News Operation,” WRAL-TV News Director Rick Gall told the crew. “This is now the fifth straight regional competition that we’ve taken home the top award (Murrow Excellence, RTDNAC Outstanding News Op, Emmy Excellence, Murrow Excellence, RTDNAC Outstanding News Op). That truly is an extraordinary streak given how competitive these contests are. Congratulations to all!!”
The event took place at the Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday, November 11, 2023, and a number of staffers attended on behalf of the station.
