DBAP Hosts DPS Academic Awards Luncheon
|
Wool E. Bull gives out a high fives for high achievement from Durham students. |
The Durham Bulls were happy to host the Durham Public Schools 2008 Superintendent’s Academic Achievement Awards Celebration on Wednesday, May 30, 2008. The special luncheon recognized approximately 255 middle school students who earned straight A’s in every class for the first three marking periods.
The students were dropped off at 11:00am to enjoy a lunch of great baseball food including hot dogs, hamburgers and popcorn, then grabbed their seats to watch This Week in Baseball on the Bulls big video board.

After lunch, Wool E. Bull and the middle school principals came out to greet the kids, then Durham Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Carl E. Harris addressed the crowd, including the students and their parents.
Principals from each school read the names of the academic achievers and present them with certificates. |
Afterwards, the principals from each school read aloud their list of students and each child received a certificate of recognition for their achievement. The day finished with all of the students and principals coming down to the field to get to run the bases.
