WRAL’s Lamb Pens Crime Novel about Eric Miller Poisoning
|
WRAL-TV Reporter Amanda Lamb |
WRAL-TV Reporter Amanda Lamb will once again be hitting the book signing circuit. Her second book, a true crime novel titled Deadly Dose: The Untold Story of One Homicide Investigator’s Crusade for Truth and Justice, will hit store shelves on June 3, 2008.
Lamb followed the arsenic poisoning murder of pediatric AIDS researcher Eric Miller for four years for WRAL-TV, reporting on the progress in the case. She even traveled to Wilmington to find Miller’s widow, Ann Miller Kontz, newly married and trying to live in obscurity. And Lamb followed Kontz to the court room, where the young woman finally stood trial and was convicted for murdering her own husband.
Lamb chronicles the story through veteran homicide investigator Chris Morgan. A man in the twilight of his career, Morgan didn’t give up through years of investigations. In fact, Morgan asked Lamb to write the book. A longtime friend and colleague, he knew Lamb through her many years of covering crime.
“It was really more a labor of love than anything else,” said Lamb. “I had no idea it would actually get published. Smotherhood [Lamb’s first book, a comic look at motherhood] opened the door for me. My agent was then able to sell Deadly Dose which I actually wrote first. Chris Morgan is a very dedicated detective who simply wanted the real story out there, especially for Ann’s daughter, Clare, so that someday she might know the truth.”
Lamb will appear in a variety of Triangle locations and beyond to discuss and sign Deadly Dose.
