WJZY CW46 Adopts Kids Cafe To Help Feed Children in 2008 |
WJZY Vice President & General Manager Will Davis (right) presents a check to fund the Kids Cafe in Lowell. |
WJZY CW46 and Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina opened a Kid’s Café Site in Lowell on Wednesday, January 16, 2008.
Kid’s Café is a childhood hunger initiative that helps provide nutritious meals, snacks and after-school activities for local children who might otherwise go hungry. WJZY CW46 is funding the new site located at the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club at 715 North Main Street in Lowell, just off I-85 exit 23, about 7 miles west of the television station.
A group of employees attended the grand opening celebration. WJZY VP/GM Will Davis presented a $5,000 sponsorship check to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina, then our employees were given a tour of the facility.
Kid’s Café will be the primary community outreach project for WJZY CW46 in 2008. Having a site nearby affords us the opportunity to get personally involved, and there will be many opportunities for station employees to volunteer. We are also working with the food bank to establish Kid’s Café sites in Hickory and other cities in our viewing area.
