Capitol Broadcasting Launches Crime Initiative for 22 Counties in North Carolina
|
Capitol Broadcasting Company, in cooperation with local law enforcement, is pleased to announce a new crime initiative – NC WANTED. This multi-platform campaign includes a weekly, prime time TV show, a comprehensive website, and a 24/7 crime-tip hotline.
NC WANTED will premiere Saturday, April 7 at 10:35pm, immediately following WRAL’s 10:00pm News on FOX 50. The weekly show will be hosted by veteran WRAL-TV anchor Gerald Owens. Produced by FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV) staff, NC WANTED will join the powerful Saturday night line-up of COPS & AMERICA’S MOST WANTED for a full night of crime-prevention programming allowing viewers to make a difference nationally… and now locally.
NC WANTED will include stories about North Carolina’s most wanted fugitives, cold cases and many aspects of the criminal justice system. Producers of NC WANTED have worked closely with local law enforcement agencies as well as John Walsh and the producers of AMERICA’S MOST WANTED to provide crucial information in the fight against crime.
“While we’re putting some of the bad guys away in the national spotlight,” said John Walsh, host of America’s Most Wanted, “NC WANTED will target major crimes in North Carolina. This is a terrific partnership with FOX 50 and it needs your support.”
Also premiering April 7th will be a 24/7 crime tip hotline, 1-866-43-WANTED (1-866-439-2683) which will allow viewers to call in with crime tips, as well as a new, comprehensive website, www.ncwanted.com offering even more information and interactive options.
Among the staff of NC WANTED is Melanie Thomas, a former 22-year veteran with the SBI who supervised over 200 Special Agents.
“This is a huge undertaking for a local media company to take on,” said Thomas Schenck, Vice-President & General Manager of FOX 50 (WRAZ-TV), “but we feel we have an obligation to try to make a difference in our local communities.”
Thanks to FOX 50’s Christine Van Cott for this capcom story.
