American Tobacco, in conjunction with Light Up Durham, held its 2nd Annual Water Tower Lighting Ceremony on Friday, December 1, 2006 amidst the glow of the Lucky Strike Water Tower. The entire Amphitheatre was ablaze with shimmering lights, as over 1,000 people enjoyed this magical holiday celebration which included performances by Hillandale Elementary School Children’s Choir, Jordan High School Choir, and the Durham School of the Arts Brass Choir. WRAL’s Valonda Calloway emceed the event.
Over in Bay 7, a special VIP reception was in progress which included a sampling of food from ATC restaurants and Christmas Carols performed by The Opera Company of North Carolina. All guests attending the Water Tower Lighting Ceremony received a commemorative fiber optic light wand.

On Saturday, December 2 , 2006 the Light Up Durham festivities continued in Bay 7 with Light Up Durham’s “Around Town” performances. Local talent was provided by:
