“So You Think You Can Dance” debuted on FOX 50 last Wednesday, June 14, 2006, as the top 20 dancers went head-to-head for the first time. And two North Carolina natives were among them. Both Jason Williams and Martha Nichols survived the first cut and now face the audience again.
Eighteen-year-old Martha Nichols from Raleigh has a Capitol Broadcasting connection. She is a dance teacher at CC & Co. Dance Complex, where Megan, daughter of WRAL-FM’s Radio Traffic Director Darlene Gidron, takes lessons. Megan and all the students are working hard to drum up support for one of their favorite instructors.
Nichols is a contemporary & hip-hop artist, and has been a member of the Power Company for 9 years and a Full Performing member of the Raleigh Civic Ballet for the past two years. This past year Nichols was chosen to dance in Carnival in LA where Janet Jackson and Gwen Stefani were in attendance. She was also chosen to audition for Janet Jackson at Monsters of Hip-Hop. Nichols has worked with several world renowned choreographers and has been trained in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, hip-hop and lyrical.
A native of Wilmington, NC, the 20-year-old Jason Williams now lives in North Hollywood, CA. He specializes in lyrical, hip-hop, jazz and funk.
“So You Think You Can Dance” airs on FOX 50 Wednesday nights at 8pm as the top dancers pair up and take the stage to compete for your vote. The weekly-results show airs Thursday nights, as the national votes are revealed and two dancers head home.
So tune in each week to watch Jason & Martha take the stage and then cast your vote to help keep them in the competition!
