FOX50 Wins Two Awards For Commercials |
FOX50’s Tim Greeney |
FOX50’s Karen Johnson |
FOX 50 brought home not one, but two 2002 Promax awards. The national competition presented awards in Los Angeles at the PROMAX & BDA national conference. In the “Broadcast Television Station (In-House) – Comedy Program” category FOX50 won a silver medallion for Producer Karen Johnson’s “I See Funny People” spot and a gold for Producer Tim Greeney’s “That’s 60’s Show (Andy Griffith)” spot.
FOX 50 certainly owns the “Comedy Program” category this year.
Greeney’s gold award winning spot began with an idea from FOX50 Writer/Producer Jason Matthews. The spot spoofs That 70’s Show, parodying the opening of the program, with clips from The Andy Griffith Show and the title That 60’s Show.
“I went through some of the old Andy shows and found shots of all the characters that I wanted in the spot,” explained Greeney. “Then I manipulated their video in aftereffects to look like they were all in a car dancing to the theme music from That 70’s Show.”
Working on an idea from FOX50 Maintenance Engineer John George, Johnson created an advertisement parodying the popular movie “The Sixth Sense.” Johnson not only got inspiration from within the station, she got her talent from inside FOX50 as well. Promotion Manager Mark Bradley starred in the “Bruce Willis” role in the commercial, and Paris Williams, son of Sales Assistant Gloria Wright, played the role of the child.
Congratulations to both Karen Johnson & Tim Greeney for the recognition of their excellent work.
