Miracle Month at WRAL Stations Comes To A Successful Close |
MIX 101.5’s Sheri Logan & Bill Jordan help present the Radiothon’s total of $804.695 pledges to the kids at Duke, along with Coach K. |
Capitol Broadcasting Company’s radio station, WRAL-FM, and Raleigh television station, WRAL-TV, raised $3,339,000 for the Duke Children’s Miracle Network through their annual Radiothon and Telethon, respectively.
Both stations dubbed May the Miracle Month and set on a full out assault on the Triangle to raise funds, a difficult task in light of the current economy. Still, WRAL-FM presented a check for $804,695 and WRAL-TV managed to bring the total over the $3 million mark. The check presentation took place on Sunday, June2, 2002, the culmination of the day’s telethon, live from the Duke Children’s Hospital.
MIX 101.5 Early Morning Show Co-Hosts Bill Jordan and Sheri Logan were on hand for the presentation, as well as Duke Men’s Basketball Coach Mike Krzyzewski.
Triangle residents gave in a variety of ways, including pledges online and via telephone, purchases of Radiothon icons at several Triangle locations and purchases of tiles for the Children’s Tile Wall at The Streets of Southpoint in Durham.
The 2002 Radiothon also kicked off with a special donation. Bill Pinkcus of Pinckus Construction built a house with donations from subcontractors in the area and then donated the proceeds of the sale of the house to start off the Radiothon. The Miracle House certainly boosted the total for the kids at Duke.
Thanks to all those who so unselfishly gave during the 2002 Miracle Month.
