WRAL-TV’s 2001 Coats For The Children Comes To A Successful End |
WRAL-TV wrapped up the 2001 Coats For The Children Campaign, collecting over 3,000 coats and receiving pledges of $58,000. 2001 marks the 13th year WRAL-TV and principle sponsors have raised money and collected new and used winter coats for the Salvation Army to distribute to needy children.
The campaign ran from November 17 to December 31. WRAL-TV held its annual telethon for the campaign on Friday, December 7th. Coats were collected at Jiffy Lube and Alltel locations throughout this part of North Carolina.
Volunteers met at Baker Roofing Company this past Saturday, January 15, 2002, to sort 3,124 coats for distribution. Kirk of Kildaire Youth Group, residents from the Healing Place of Wake County, and a few WRAL’ers donated their afternoon for sorting.
WRAL sends special thanks to Longistics Transportation for donating their trucks to pick-up donated coats from sponsor locations and deliver them to the warehouse. Thanks also go to Baker Roofing Company for donating warehouse space to store the coats and for volunteers to sort the coats.
Thanks to the generousity of WRAL-TV viewers, many needy children will have a warmer winter.
