Fans Step Up To The Plate For Pelicans Fest 2001 |
The Pelicans kicked off individual ticket sales on Saturday, March 10th with Pelicans Fest 2001. Fans stopped by Coastal Federal Field between 10:00am and 2:00pm for free concessions food, games and fun.
Pelican fans enjoyed a sunny midday at the ballpark. |
Even the youngest fans took part in National Anthem tryouts. |
Attendees got a chance to play between-inning promotions such as Human Bowling, Sumo Wrestling and Big Glove Boxing. Singers and instrumentalists took a shot at singing the National Anthem for the annual auditions. Pelican mascots Splish, Splash and Dinger the Home Run Dog joined fans in running the bases, playing catch, and testing their pitches at the Speed Pitch. Fans enjoyed face painting and behind the scenes tours of Coastal Federal Field.

Off With Your Head is a popular between-inning stunt. |
“It was a beautiful day for baseball,” said Pelicans Director of Media & Public Relations Bryan Dolgin. “We had just about everything at this event that would make up a Pelicans game…a large crowd, the promotions, hot dogs, pizza, peanuts, the speed pitch, the mascot, etc. There was a good turn out for people trying out to sing the national anthem. The only thing missing from the event was an actual baseball game. It was a fun-filled four hours.”
