About four years ago, Saint Augustine’s College in Raleigh, North Carolina, established the Paul R. Pope, Jr. Scholarship Fund in honor of CBC’s current Vice President of Community Relations. Now the college is holding a fundraising to establish an endowment for this fund.
On Sunday, February 11, acclaimed harpist Jeff Majors will play at 6:00pm at the Seby B. Jones Fine Arts Theatre on the St. Augustine campus.

The concert will feature pieces from Majors’ Sacred Series,a 12-volume set of which he has published the first three. The series contains his own repertoire of musical genre-mixing modern gospel music.
Mildred R. Spearman, Director of College Relations, said, “We are so delighted to be able to honor Mr. Pope’s accomplishments and his commitment to his community. We also are very grateful to Capitol Broadcasting Company for supporting our efforts to provide scholarships for deserving communications students through the Paul R. Pope Jr. Scholarship Fund.”
The college named the scholarship fund in Pope’s honor because “His rise to success…is marked by leadership and a commitment to excellence-a model Saint Augustine’s College encourages students to emulate.”
