Major Announcement For Minor Leagues:
Governor Hodges To Recognize Baseball Teams
MYRTLE BEACH, SC — The Myrtle Beach Pelicans and the four other minor league baseball teams across the state of South Carolina will be recognized and honored by Governor Hodges on Tuesday, April 25 in Columbia, SC.
The week of April 23 – 29 will be proclaimed “Minor League Baseball Week” in the state of South Carolina. The Pelicans, Charleston RiverDogs, Capital City (Columbia) Bombers, Greenville Braves and the Charlotte Knights make up the five minor league teams. The Knights are located in Fort Mill, SC.
At 11 AM on Tuesday, representatives from the five minor league teams will be present at the state capital for Governor Hodges’ proclamation. Governor Hodges will introduce Steve Malliet, the General Manager of the Pelicans, and George Habel, Capitol Broadcasting’s Executive Vice President of the Network Group & Baseball Clubs.
Gifts will be given to the Governor from each of the five teams. The Concurrent Resolution will follow the Proclamation. A question and answer session for the media is included in the event. The proceedings are scheduled to conclude at noon.
