11th Annual Coats For The Children A Huge Success |
Thanks to all CBC employees and other volunteers who donated their time to help with this community event.
For the 11th year, WRAL’s Coats for the Children was a huge success for children and families in need of winter clothing. Coats for the Children officially ended on December 31st with more than 6500 coats collected and over $67,000 pledged. An additional $24,000 is expected from Celebration of Lights which donated a $1 for every vehicle to Coats for the Children.
The money will help Salvation Armies in Raleigh, Cary, Durham, Chapel Hill, Fayetteville, Rocky Mount, Goldsboro and Sanford purchase winter clothing items such as t-shirts, underwear, socks, gloves and hats for families in need. Due to the Hurricane Floyd devastation, the Salvation Army of Wake County donated a large number of their coats to the Salvation Army in Rocky Mount to help with the increased need this winter for families affected by the flood.
WRAL’s Coats for the Children is made possible through the support of volunteers, community partners Jiffy Lube and Alltel, Long Transportation, Baker Roofing and Metro Productions.
