CBC – A Proud Supporter of the 1999 Special Olympic Games in Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill, NC
For nine days in 1999, the Triangle will have the eyes of the world on us as we host the world’s biggest sporting event – The 1999 Special Olympic World Summer Games. CBC is committed to making this event a success by contributing financial support, moral support, media coverage, and volunteers.
But to make this event successful, the Triangle will need to have more than 35,000 people volunteer to help with everything from translating to transporting, giving out medals or just giving a hug. The volunteer experience will be one of the things the special athletes will remember most about their participation in the World Games. And for CBC, a successful event means a lot more than what the community will remember two years from now, but what the athletes will remember.
As an employee of CBC, you should already be aware of what the company does for your community. Now, you can help show your community what CBC is all about, by volunteering some of your time to this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. And we will be asking you to do just that.
From the opening ceremonies on June 26 to the closing ceremonies on July 4, CBC has committed to provide employee volunteers to help with our venue: Basketball at the Dean E. Smith Center at UNC, Chapel Hill. As a volunteer, you will get the chance to welcome and get to know athletes from around the world. You will be able to learn about their culture first hand and experience their joy as they cross the finish line. So stay tuned for more details. . .
