Winning High School Receives $10,000!
The FOX 50 Lip Dub Project is back for another year! And brand new this season, there’s an app for that. Download the free FOX 50 Lip Dub app on your iPhone or Droid and vote to help your high school win $10,000!
The fourth year of the popular and award winning Fox 50 Lip Dub Project is presented by Goodwill Community Foundation and sponsored by Character Matters.
Over the last three years, 100 plus local high schools have participated resulting in nine high schools receiving cash prizes totaling $52,500! Last year, Jack Britt High School (Fayetteville) won the grand prize of $10,000, followed by 1st place runner-up Smithfield-Selma High School with $5,000 and 2nd place runner-up Pine Forest High School (Fayetteville) with $2,500.
The “FOX 50 Lip Dub Project” gives local high school students the chance to show off their creativity which could win their high school one-of-three cash prizes including the grand prize of $10,000!
The online entry period runs February 24 through March 28 on FOX50.com and is open to all public and private high schools located within the following North Carolina counties: Chatham, Cumberland, Durham, Edgecombe, Franklin, Granville, Halifax, Harnett, Hoke, Johnston, Lee, Moore, Nash, Northampton, Orange, Person, Sampson, Vance, Wake, Warren, Wayne or Wilson.
The top 3 high school videos, determined by most votes, will win $2,500 for 2nd place (announced on Tuesday, April 15), $5,000 for 1st place (announced on Wednesday, April 16) and $10,000 for the grand prize winning high school (announced on Thursday, April 17). All winning schools will be announced during WRAL’s 10:00pm News on FOX 50.
New to the Project this year is the FOX 50 Lip Dub app which is free and available from the App Store and Google Play. Students, faculty, parents and friends are also invited to share and show support socially using the hashtag: #FOX50LipDub.
About The “FOX 50 Lip Dub Project”:
Created in 2011 as a fun and educational competition for local high school students and their schools. Students work together with teachers to create a music video in one continuous take “lip syncing” the words of their selected song. To date, the FOX 50 Creative Services team has received 19 nominations and 13 awards for the “FOX 50 Lip Dub Project” as well as the FOX 50 Sales team winning the 2012 nationwide Best Local Promotion from FOX.
