Capitol Broadcasting Company’s “HighSchoolOT LIVE,” a weekly, live-streamed show providing in-game updates from multiple football games across North Carolina, returns starting August 18.
Beginning at 7 p.m. each Friday during the high school football regular season, the show will run until at least 10 p.m. on HighSchoolOT.com, the HighSchoolOT.com mobile apps, and on the WRAL OTT apps for Roku, Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV. Audio from the show will be streamed live on 95.7 The Ticket.
To kick off the season, WRAL-TV will carry the first hour of week one on August 18, 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., and the entire show will stream live on 99.9 The Fan. New this year, the show will also be carried over-the-air all season on WRAL2, which is available with an antenna at Ch. 5.2 or on Time Warner Cable and other local cable providers.
“HighSchoolOT LIVE” includes an in-studio show that takes viewers through 6-8 area high school football games with live, instant updates complete with graphics, play-by-play and color commentary. Viewers also have the option to watch the live feeds of any of the 6-8 chosen games on HighSchoolOT.com, the mobile apps and WRAL OTT apps.
Week 1 lineup features big matchups, defending champs
The “HighSchoolOT LIVE” week one lineup includes seven live games, featuring 14 teams from six different North Carolina counties.
The Game of the Week will be a former conference rivalry game as Garner visits Clayton. Garner has not lost to Clayton since 1985, but the Comets feature NC State recruit Devin Carter at wide receiver.
Wake Forest, the defending N.C. High School Athletic Association 4-AA state champions, opens the season on Friday night at home against former conference foe Millbrook. The Cougars return 17-of-22 starters from their state championship team.
Week one will also include Hillside’s trip to New Bern, a game that features two of the top programs in the east. Hillside features running back Jamal Elliot, an Oregon recruit.

The faces of “HighSchoolOT LIVE”
Nick Stevens, senior editor of HighSchoolOT.com, returns as the in-studio host of “HighSchoolOT LIVE” each week. Stevens has covered high school football in North Carolina for over 10 years. Former football coach Wayne Bragg will again serve as a color commentator. Bragg was a head football coach at Panther Creek High School and Holly Springs High School and served as an assistant football coach at Northern Durham High School.
More than 50 contributors, including sports writers, photographers, videographers and more will bring the show and multiple streams to life every week under Stevens’ guidance.
HighSchoolOT.com expands reach
HighSchoolOT.com has expanded coverage east of the Triangle, adding five conferences and 25 high schools to the site. The expansion means HighSchoolOT contributors will now provide scores, standings and schedules for over 250 schools–every conference in the eastern half of the state–from the Triangle to the coast.
“Expanding east made sense. With the new realignment, several of our easternmost teams were joining conferences with coastal teams, and instead of having holes in our coverage area where we didn’t cover schools, we thought it made sense to just include everyone,” said Stevens.
“HighSchoolOT LIVE” staff will likely travel to live stream games in the recently added conferences this season.
Stevens added that Capitol Broadcasting already has a footprint in Wilmington and along other parts of the coast. He looks forward to growing the base of HighSchoolOT.com in those areas even further.
Building a strong tradition
CBC New Media’s HighSchoolOT.com has been covering prep sports exhaustively for years. It was the first Triangle area media outlet with a website and app dedicated to high school sports, and it has produced more prep video content than any other media outlet in the state of North Carolina.
“We wanted to learn the best way to produce and deliver live game coverage for a web and mobile audience,” said Conway. “The end product exceeded our expectations.”
The 37th season of “Football Friday” will begin on Friday, August 18, at 11:35 p.m. on WRAL-TV hosted by sports anchor Jeff Gravley.
HighSchoolOT.com’s unparalleled coverage will also continue with a live scoreboard on Friday nights, game stories, highlights and slideshows.
