WRAL-FM Morning Show Co-Host Bill Jordan has announced his decision to retire. |
After 24 years as morning show host, Bill Jordan has announced his retirement from MIX 101.5 WRAL-FM, a division of Capitol Broadcasting Company.
On November 14, 1989, Jordan joined the staff of WRAL-FM. With over 6,000 broadcasts under his belt, Jordan has been instrumental in helping raise more than $15 million through the MIX 101.5 Radiothon for Duke Children’s Hospital over the past 19 years. In addition to his on-air duties, Jordan has been involved in many community activities, fundraising campaigns, station appearances and behind-the-scenes events.
“Bill Jordan is woven into the fabric and history of our radio station and his decision to retire will leave MIX 101.5 changed as we move into the future,” said Ardie Gregory, WRAL-FM VP / GM. “All of us at WRAL-FM wish him a healthy and happy retirement.”
“For almost 40 years now I have been blessed to be able to do what I truly love,” said Bill Jordan. “After 33 years of my alarm going off at 3:20am, I have to admit that I’m tired. With that in mind, my wife, Marianne, and I have decided that retirement is a good choice right now. I’m leaving a great team and the best listeners in the world, but am looking forward to the next chapter in this life.”
“We have been fortunate to have Bill and his many talents on staff for over two decades,” said Barry Fox, WRAL-FM program director. “His ability to paint a story for the listener through his creative selection of words has always amazed me.”
Bill Jordan’s last day will be Friday, March 15, 2013. Upon his retirement, fellow WRAL-FM host, Jim Kelly, will join morning show co-host Lynda Loveland on a fill-in basis.
