Capitol Broadcasting was proud to support August Madness – a wheelchair basketball tournament benefitting Bridge II Sports. Bridge II Sports is a non-profit that creates opportunities for children and adults who are physically challenged to play team and individual sports by providing equipment, developing sports teams and coaching, thereby helping them discover tenacity, confidence, self-esteem and the joy of finding the player within.
The event took place on August 1, 2012, at the PNC Arena and was free to the general public.
The Capitol Broadcasting team was made up of WRAL-FM’s Lynda Loveland, 620 The Buzz’ Mike Maniscalco, 620 the Buzz’ Mark Thomas, WRAL-TV’s Gerald Owens and WRAL-TV’s Rachel Nash.

WRAL-TV’s Jeff Gravley emceed the event. Each team was also given a professional basketball player, a collegiate player or a wheelchair basketball player to round out the team.
Guest players included Jerry Stackhouse, Jawad Williams, Amile Jefferson, P.J. Hairston, Seth Curry and more.
Although the CBC lost in the first round, they had a great time for a great cause. The team hopes to do better next year!
