American Tobacco has a new art exhibit on display. Eric McRay’s collage works called “Pulse: Pieces of Life” is the latest collection on display at the Durham campus, and many of these pieces are being exhibited for the first time ever.
“Pulse: Pieces of Life” will be on display until Sunday, November 7, 2010, in the Strickland Building Lobby (near Cuban Revolution restaurant) on the campus in downtown Durham. For the first time, nationally acclaimed Triangle artist Eric McRay assembles new and earlier collage pieces to create a show teaming with the energy and magic of ordinary life.

“Over the years, I’ve used collage to focus on ideas and scenes that for some reason or another fascinate me. Put together, these pieces create a complete alternate universe that is, at the same time, reassuring and challenging,” says McRay, who was deemed 2008’s Best Local Artist by Metro Magazine and received an honorable mention in the same category this year. He has also been featured in Southern Living.
The exhibit launched with a VIP reception on Thursday, September 9th.

The Strickland Building Lobby is open daily from 9am to 6pm. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
All of works will be on sale, with part of the proceeds going to the Tammy Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities.
McRay is an artist in residence at Raleigh’s Artspace. The exhibit is sponsored by American Tobacco and FOX 50.
“I’m excited by the opportunity to engage so fully with the Durham community, and its many artists and art lovers,” McRay noted.
