99.9FM The Fan ESPN Radio held their 2nd Annual Cornhole Cup benefiting the Prostate Cancer Foundation on Saturday, May 23, 2009, at the American Tobacco Campus in Durham. A record 96 teams competed in a double elimination tournament for the granddaddy of all prizes, “The Cornhole Cup.”
Teams from all across North Carolina attended the event including last year’s defending champions, Super Slide, from Salisbury, NC.
With more teams, 99.9FM The Fan added more elements including a BEST team name competition and BEST team outfit. The best team name was Me So Corny and the best dressed team was Suburban Idiots featuring FOX 50 Sales Promotion Coordinator Brian Bisges (who shaved his head into a mohawk for the event).
The defending champions fell into the losers’ side of the bracket late in the afternoon but managed to come out the winner of that side. Super Slide then had to defeat The Houlio’s twice to win the Cornhole Cup and they did.
The teams loved the facility and the easy access to parking, food and drink.
“It was a smashing success thanks to the hard work of The Fan’s Promotion Director Brandon Alexander and his staff!” said 99.FM The Fan General Manager Mike Morgan.
The Cornhole Cup is a fun event that’s for a great cause….once again this year, it was a Shuckin’ Good Time.
