Heather was named the Interim General Manager of WRAL-TV (NBC) and WRAZ-TV/FOX 50 (FOX) beginning in March 2025. She stepped into this leadership role to oversee the stations’ strategic operations, including: news, programming, sales, community initiatives, and audience engagement efforts. Heather began working with CBC in October 2017 as the Creative Services Director and has since served in various roles, including Brand Director.
Heather is the former national Chair of the NBC Station Marketing Council, where she led six regions in strengthening connections between NBC and its more than 200 local affiliate stations. A seven-time regional Emmy Award winner and national PROMAX Gold winner, Heather has a passion for local news and is a fierce advocate for audience engagement.
As the lead on many community projects for Capitol Broadcasting Company, Heather and her team oversee efforts like “Coats for the Children,” an annual holiday campaign with the Salvation Army. Additionally, her team produces the televised annual “MLK Prayer Breakfast,” the syndicated, long-running high school quiz show “Brain Game,” and the WRAL productions of both the Raleigh Christmas Parade and Durham Holiday Parade. They also produce the “Golden Years” TV event benefiting seniors in the Raleigh community and spearhead the marketing efforts for WRAL’s First Night Raleigh and the Triangle Komen Race for the Cure, among hundreds of other community partnerships. Heather sits on the board of United Arts of Wake County, volunteering time to raise awareness of community arts.
Heather previously led the Programming, Marketing, Promotion, Community, Studio Operations, Social, and Commercial Production teams for 12 News/KPNX (Gannett/TEGNA) in Phoenix, Arizona. She has 30 years of broadcast and news experience, having worked for First Coast News in Jacksonville, FL (NBC/ABC duopoly – Gannett), KCRA-TV (NBC-Hearst), Good Day Sacramento (then WB/Paramount) in Sacramento, CA, and KHSL-TV (CBS) in Chico, CA.
Heather graduated with honors from California State University, Chico, with a BA in Communications, Media Arts, and minors in English and Women’s Studies. She lives in Cary, NC, with her husband, has two adult children, and is the mom to two very childlike dogs. She enjoys hiking, reading, and roadside historical markers.
