CBC Connects with Our Community

Capitol Broadcasting Company has teamed up with the Communities in Schools of North Carolina to create a unique volunteer opportunity. With a commitment of just one hour a week, employees can become a mentor to a young person via the Internet. As a telementor, employees can become a role-model, “coach” and friend to a student in a rural or urban school. All it takes is an e-mail account and a desire to make a difference in a child’s life.

CBC Volunteers receive:

  • Free volunteer training by Communities in Schools
  • A volunteer t-shirt Permission to volunteer on company time (with supervisor’s approval)
  • The opportunity to serve the community and a child

Training sessions are being scheduled for early August ’98: the program will begin next school year.
