Peter Anlyan To Take Over American Tobacco Project
Peter Anlyan, former general manager of the Durham Bulls, has agreed to turn his talents to the renovation of the American Tobacco building in downtown Durham, NC., as reported in the Friday, April 14 edition of the News and Observer Newspaper. This will be a full time effort to turn the abandoned American Tobacco complex into offices, shops and restaurants.
Anlyan has been a Capitol Broadcasting employee for 16 years, working for WRAL-TV5 until 1993 and then moving to the Durham Bulls organization. He not only helped develop the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, but also secured tenants for Diamond View, the office building overlooking the second baseline.
As the general manager of real estate development, Anlyan will oversee the renovation of the complex and the new construction of up to six more Diamond View office buildings once the complex is completed. Anlyan will report to CBC’s general counsel Mike Hill, who has spearheaded the Tobacco building project since April 1999, when CBC bought the option to the property.
Anlyan is a Durham native, who, in addition to his normal duties, serves on the Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce 10-member executive committee and plays a key role in the annual Light-Up Durham holiday celebration.
