Historic MLK Day Performance Supported by CBC & AJFF
Capitol Broadcasting Company and the A.J. Fletcher Foundation traditionally support the Martin Luther King, Jr. Interfaith Prayer Breakfast in the Triangle, but in 2003, the two entities will back an additional King Day event. Both CBC and AJFF are the major financial backers behind a concert by the Triangle Youth Philharmonic and the Martin Luther King Jr. All-Children’s Choir.
The company and the foundation made the announcement on Tuesday, October 15, 2002, that “Eulogy for a Dream,” a work based on King’s words and writings, will be the first time the orchestra and the choir will perform together. They will debut the work arranged by NC Symphony Associate Conductor William Henry Curry on January 19, 2003, at the Meymandi Hall in the BTI Center for Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh.
“It combines the power of the orchestra and the music with the power of words,” said AJFF Executive Director Tom McGuire.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the choir, the orchestra and the MLK breakfast.
