Bulls Win First Round of Playoffs |
On Saturday, September 6, 2003, the Durham Bulls clinched a trip to the 71st Annual Governors Cup Championship with a 9-6 victory over the Louisville Bats. Durham took the best-of-five series from the Bats 3-1. The Bulls will face the Pawtucket Red Sox to determine the International League champion beginning tonight at home.
The Bulls took the International League South Division title for the fifth time in six seasons in late August and will now play for their second-in-a-row Governors Cup Championship. The Columbus Clippers were the last IL team to repeat as champions, in 1992.
