American Tobacco Signs First Retail Tenant
With moving day at the American Tobacco Campus close for several businesses, the Capitol Broadcasting project in downtown Durham project has signed its first retail tenant. Chambers Trophy Case, Inc. has joined the list of tenants for the renovated industrial complex.
A small business located in Durham for 16 years, Chambers Trophy Case Inc. specializes in trophies, plaques, awards, engraving and personalized gifts. They plan to be open in their new home by the beginning of September.
The 16-acre American Tobacco Historic District is located across Blackwell Street from the Durham Bulls Athletic Park and will include one million square feet for tenants when the renovations are complete. The first phase construction is currently underway, with the first tenant expected to move into their space in June.
Currently, the American Tobacco Historic District has six anchor tenants, including Compuware Corporation, Duke University, GlaxoSmithKline, McKinney + Silver, Intersouth Partners, and Bronto Software. Restaurants, residential units and additional retail shops are also planned for the project.
