Local TV Stations Go Mobile
In the past two months, News Over Wireless inked 22 new partnerships with local TV stations across the U.S., enabling greater exposure of station content on mobile handsets.
Each affiliate will offer news, video, weather and additional local content through a premium mobile solution—My Local TV. News Over Wireless ensures that each station’s solution is customized to meet the needs and interests of local viewers.
“We are extremely pleased with the rate at which TV stations across the nation are adopting our mobile solutions,” said Sam Matheny, News Over Wireless general manager. “Our partners recognize the intrinsic value viewers receive from mobile access to their relevant, timely content.”
News Over Wireless currently supports a network of mobile solutions providing coverage across 85 percent of the country. The company was also the first to launch a mobile video channel for local TV stations.
“While mobile is still considered to be an emerging media form, the caliber of stations we are working with clearly validates the potential the TV industry already sees in wireless,” said Matheny. “First and foremost, we help stations keep on-the-go viewers connected with vital news. We also uniquely help them drive multiple revenue streams from subscription and advertising. Our wireless Web, Java, video and SMS services are the best and most comprehensive in the industry and easily integrate into current platforms.”
