The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) has honored WRAL with three regional Edward R. Murrow awards. The awards recognize the best electronic journalism produced by radio, television and online news organizations around the world.
WRAL was honored in the News Documentary, News Series, and Sports Reporting categories:
WRAL-TV Vice President and General Manager Steven D. Hammel credits an outstanding staff saying, “These awards showcase the outstanding teamwork, creativity and commitment of the talented and passionate people who work here. Their tireless efforts consistently provide our viewers and web users with content they can’t get anywhere else. I’m proud of the work everyone does as we serve our community. ”
WRAL-TV News Director Rick Gall says, “These three awards reflect some of the specialized reporting that we do here, and it’s gratifying to be recognized for that work. Each day, we take our news coverage beyond the stories you expect to see.”
RTDNA has been honoring outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Edward R. Murrow Awards since 1971. Murrow Award recipients demonstrate the spirit of excellence that Edward R. Murrow made a standard for the broadcast news profession.
WRAL competes in Region 8 which includes North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia.
