29th Annual WRAL Azalea CelebrationThe 29th Annual WRAL Azalea Celebration is now accepting applications from non-profits for the 2014 plant giveaway.  Sponsored by WRAL-TV, MIX 101.5 WRAL-FM and NC Beautiful, the Azalea Celebration promotes environmental education, beautification and stewardship by awarding azalea plants to non-profits in North Carolina.

All applications must be received or postmarked by September 8, 2014.

“This project never gets old as I am able to meet new people every year that are in need of help,” said Corporate Property Management Manager Tim Grissom.  “They are always so excited to have been chosen to receive plants.”

Plants will be distributed to the winning organizations on October 11, 2014, at the WRAL transmitter site in Auburn, NC.

Each group can receive up to 50 azaleas.  Three years from the date they receive the plants, the winning non-profits become eligible for the A.J. Fletcher Award.  These awards are given annually to the top three groups that have shown the most innovation and care of the plants that they received.
