One hundred-twenty golfers came together to hit the links for the inaugural Sports Radio Open hosted by 620 The Buzz and 99.9 The Fan on Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at the River Ridge Golf Club in Raleigh.  The event benefitted the Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC, and ended up raising $6,000 for the non-profit.

The event began with a Pairings Party at the Hibernian Pub in Raleigh on Monday night, hosted by Buzz Sports Radio’s Mark Thomas. Then the next morning, 120 golfers came together to play.  Listeners paid to play; 100% of the entry fee went to the Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC. A variety of area celebrities including personalities from CBC Sports Radio, WRAL-TV and the Carolina Hurricanes, participated in the event.

“The event was hot! But everyone had an awesome time,” said CBC Sports Radio Account Executive Luanne Lane.

“First off I blame Greg Fishel for the 100 degree weather,” quipped The Buzz’ On-Air Host Mike Maniscalco.  “Second Josh and Trey our playing partners were great guys and luckily our play didn’t slow them down.”

Sponsors included: Hibernian, Lynnwood Grill, Jim Allen Group, Brentwood Carpet and Flooring America, Eastern Turf Maintenance and Flow Mini of Raleigh.

Thanks to 99.9 The Fan’s Luanne Lane for this capcom scoop and for these capcom photos.
