American Tobacco Awarded for New Aloft Hotel

American Tobacco DDI Award

American Tobacco won Downtown Durham Inc’s Outstanding New Construction Project Award for the Aloft Hotel at the DDI Annual Meeting on Tuesday, November 17, 2015.

American Tobacco received a nice surprise at the Downtown Durham Inc (DDI) 2015 Annual Meeting.  On Tuesday, November 17, DDI presented American Tobacco with its Outstanding New Construction Project Award for the Aloft Hotel.

Located in the heart of the American Tobacco campus, the Aloft Hotel is a 134 room, limited-service hotel with meeting and conference space for 100.  The Aloft also includes the popular WXYZ Bar.

“We’re humbled and honored to receive this award from Downtown Durham Inc,” said ATC Real Estate Development Director Mark Stanford.  “We’ve long sought a hotel within the American Tobacco Campus and are excited to have teamed up with Aloft to create a new hotel experience in the Downtown Durham market. Our hotel is very well located within steps of DPAC & DBAP and delivers a premium guest experience at a price point that Downtown Durham will embrace.”

American Tobacco did not realize they’d been nominated, but they have been regular DDI winners for new projects completed on the campus.

American Tobacco isn’t sitting on its laurels.  Several additional new projects are currently underway.  NanaSteak, creation of Scott Howell, chef and owner of the popular restaurant Nana’s, is under construction on the ground floor of the new Aloft Hotel.
