Two CBC Tower Lighting Events This Week

‘Tis the season for the lighting of the towers.  WRAL-TV will start the fun with its annual tower lighting on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, and American Tobacco will follow with its annual tower lighting celebration on Friday, December 4.

The WRAL-TV tower will be lit for the holiday season on Tuesday, December 1, 2015.

WRAL-TV marks the beginning of the holiday season each year by lighting the 300-foot tower above its studios with Christmas lights on the first day of December.  For the 57th Annual Tower Lighting, the North Carolina Master Chorale will attend as musical guests.  Coverage will begin one-hour earlier this year during the 4pm FOX 50 News on WRAL.  WRAL-TV Anchors Debra Morgan and David Crabtree will anchor WRAL’s coverage, and surprise guests will appear near the end of WRAL’s 5:30 newscast and to help light the tower at 6:15pm.

The fun begins at American Tobacco at 6pm on Friday.  The 11th Annual American Tobacco Tower Lighting will take place in the amphitheater under the Lucky Strike Tower.  Entertainment will be provide by a variety of guests including the cast of “The Sound of Music,” Club Boulevard Elementary Chorus, Barriskill Dance, Lucas Middle School Chorus, Duke Rhythm & Blue and Elevate.  Santa will be on hand for the fun as well.  At the conclusion of the event, the holiday fun will continue over at Diamond View Park as the Triangle Christmas Tree Challenge comes to life and voting begins.  The Tree of Bikes on the Burt’s Bees Patio will also light up for the first time that evening.
