Second Gimme the Mike! Contestant Advances to Finals Third Episode To Air on FOX 50

The second set of four contestants went head to head on Verizon SuperPages Presents FOX 50’s Gimme the Mike! on Thursday, April 28, 2005, and Tom Wedsworth, Jr. of Chapel Hill wowed the judges and earned the second spot in the finals.
Wedsworth is a corporate fitness trainer who enjoys playing the guitar, writing and performing his own music and dreams of a career in the music industry. He could be joined in the finals by Meghann Flores of Dudley. She became viewers’ second Wild Card pick after the April 28th episode.

Although the judges selected Wedsworth, Flores won the online vote to get a second chance. The Eastern Wayne High School student will appear on the Wild Card Playoff show where she’ll have an additional opportunity to showcase her singing abilities for an online Wild Card vote.
The third installment of Gimme the Mike! will air on FOX 50 on Thursday, May 5th at 7:30pm. Contestants will include: James McMillian of Sanford, Donnie Lee Strickland of Smithfield, Erica Davidson of Durham and Camiel Ferrell of Garner.

Following Thursday night’s show from 8:00p.m. to midnight, log on to www.fox50.com and vote for the contestant you’d like to see get another chance. Viewers will vote one Wild Card contestant from each episode of “FOX 50’s Gimme the Mike!” to appear in this season’s live Wild Card Playoff Show, where the weekly Wild Card winners will have an extra chance to sing for a live audience. One Wild Card contestant will advance to the season finale and compete for the grand prize. |
The six finalists, five selected by the judges and one chosen by viewers after the Wild Card Playoff Show, will compete for the grand prize on the one-hour live finale later in May. The season finale event will also feature live performances from some special musical guests and will be broadcast live from downtown Raleigh leading into May’s biggest television music event: the finale of “American Idol.”
