MBBC’s Steve Terry won an award for this photo of Atlanta Brave Miguel Bernard. |
“And the winner is…Steven M. Terry!” That’s what the crowd at the “House of Blues” heard on Saturday night, February 5, 2005, during the 2005 Addy Awards. The team photographer for the Pelicans was announced not just once, but twice as a winner for his photography of Pelicans Baseball.
Hundreds of advertising and marketing professionals gathered for this year’s Addy Awards to recognize the top advertisements and ad campaigns in the Myrtle Beach area. Terry was one of the chosen few deemed worthy of a 2005 Addy award for his outstanding work. A photo of Atlanta Braves, all-star 2B, Marcus Giles, playing for the Pelicans during his rehabilitation stint last summer, as well as a snapshot of Pelicans C Miguel Bernard sliding safely across the plate took home honors at the awards ceremony. Terry has won awards in the past and his work has been featured in magazines across the world, but the satisfaction of winning these awards was different for him.
“This is nice to be recognized for my work in the advertising industry, as well as against other photographers. Other awards that I have won are against other professional photographers, but this one was more than just that,” said Terry.
The Pelicans have used Terry’s award winning photos in some of their marketing materials for the upcoming season. The Giles shot is featured in the ’05 group sales brochure as a pullout poster and the Bernard action photo has been used on the cover of the mini-plan flyer. More of Terry’s work is displayed on the Pelicans web site as well as other brochures and print materials.
Fans can purchase action photos in the Pelicans Pro Shop. Each and every game day Terry produces photos of that night’s action in-house so that fans have the opportunity to walk away with a very special and unique souvenir. Check out Steve Terry’s photography at Coastal Federal Field all summer long.
Individual Pelicans tickets for the 2005 season go on sale Friday, February 18th at 10am. Season tickets and mini-plan packages are currently on sale for ’05. The Pelicans will host the Charleston River Dogs (Low-A, New York Yankees) of the South Atlantic League for an exhibition game on April 5th. Opening Day is set for April 7th when the Pelicans and Wilmington Blue Rocks (Advanced-A, Boston Red Sox) kick off the 2005 season. For tickets call 843-918-6000.
