Bulls Donate Picnic Furniture To Local Charities |
Part of the Bulls preparation for the 2003 season included all new picnic furniture in the food court, terrace boxes and the new covered picnic area, the Durham Bulls Corral. But rather than send the old 60 tables and 300 chairs from those areas to the junkyard, three local charities were able to take the furniture to use at their places.
The Bulls split the furniture between three local charities: John Avery Boys and Girls Club, the Durham Rescue Mission and The Healing Place in Raleigh. Durham Bulls Stadium Operations Director Mike Tilly and CBC Durham Real Estate Associate Michael Goodmon organized the donations.
“We have a pretty large summer camp here and thank goodness, now we have tables and chairs that the youngsters can sit outside on for lunch during camp,” said Floyd Laisure, Executive Director of the John Avery Boys and Girls Club. “We had a need for additional tables and chairs in our teen center and now we have them. This is a blessing all the way around.”
